The last week has been a complete whirlwind. I moved in on Wednesday and as of yet, I don't have a roommate although am anticipating getting one anytime. My room is lovely and homely and everyone in the house is really nice. I've made friends with lots of the exchange students and all the American students are arriving today.

Last night we had a pizza social amongst the international students and today we're going to Newport Harbour. On Sunday, there is a 'First Night' party for all incoming freshmen and then lots of events next week. In the next few weeks, I'm planning trips to Providence for some shopping, surfing in Narragansett (a beach nearby) and then seeing The Fray at the Ryan Center on campus. The campus is incredible here; we have a shopping emporium which has everything from a Dunkin' Donuts, a Subway and a Chinese restaurant to a tanning salon and florist. The Ryan Center also sports an ice rink and we're going ice skating next week.

I'm going to upload my photos after Newport so you can all see how beautiful this little area of the world is.

I've arrived in Boston!

I'm ridiculously exhausted from the jetlag and the flight but at least we travelled in style. As my Dad and I went to board, we got told our seats had been upgraded to Premium Economy by Virgin Atlantic, woop! Not to go on about it too much, but we had masses of leg room, they brought us pre-flight drinks, hot towels just after take off, the best airline food I have ever tasted on actual plates with actual silver cutlery and served from a menu that we got given at take-off. Not to mention the bundles of free drinks, free fruit, free ice cream and free bread we got given. Best way to fly ever.

Ok, so we arrived in Boston and the weather was so nice. It was really warm and sunny. Once we got back to the hotel, we pretty much just crashed out watching a bit of Seinfeld and I fell asleep before nine probably. It's 7am here, I'm about to have a shower then after breakfast we're going to explore Boston.

All packed

I've spent all day packing, which was quite a chore but apart from the things I need up until Sunday, I am finished! I'm taking one big suitcase and one small one. I just need to pack a couple more things like my phone charger and my coat but won't do that until Monday when we fly.

Ok, so all I have to do now is pack. I have seventeen days left and in that time, I need to pack (I'm dedicating a few days to it), pick up some travel sickness tablets, get my haircut and load money onto my Dollar card.

I can't believe how quickly this has rolled around. I have a roommate called Gretchen, have been assigned two 'buddies' to help me settle in at URI called Caitlin and Elizabeth and I know where I'm living and in seventeen days, I will be living the dream.

I'm making a packing list of stuff to take. I've given myself two suitcases really, because my Dad is coming with me and barely bringing any clothes with him (poor man). It's so difficult decided what to take!

One month to go!

List of Pre-America things to sort

  1. Sort out a medical exam with the doctor so they can sign my form - Done. Arranged for August 7th at 4:10pm.
  2. Medical insurance.
  3. Work out what to pack.
  4. Actually pack it.
I can't think of anything else. Four things? That cannot be it. My Dad has to book our Boston hotel but I have my visa and flights sorted and got my modules confirmed today. I can't think of much else, which is bizarre.

One month, one week, three days and forty one minutes in counting :D
